July 25, 2026 Pillar II: Democracy, Peace, and Constitutional Duty

Share

Len Hennessy, a retired Navy commander running for Georgia House District 125, talked through the data centers coming to his district and who pays for the grid, water and roads behind them, using PFAS contamination from the Dalton carpet industry as the warning. He opposed eliminating Georgia's income tax, argued the state's taxpayer refunds belong in special education and Medicaid expansion, and came out against ending inpatient care at Eisenhower Army Medical Center.

Show notes

In this episode of The Smoke Pit, we sit down with Leonard "Len" Hennessy, a retired Navy commander, naval flight officer, and Iraq veteran who flew Open Skies Treaty missions over Russia and served as a military advisor to the U.S. State Department in arms control. After 20 years of service he became a small business owner, and he is now a candidate for the Georgia State House in District 125, covering parts of Columbia and McDuffie counties. The conversation covers military and veterans affairs, national security, and what two decades in uniform bring to state-level politics.
