Thirty-one days out. The Wall Street Journal reports the President told aides he expects to bomb Iran again after the midterms. The same week, the Secretary of Defense told commanders to get their troops registered, and measured the gap against Detroit, Boston, Milwaukee, and Seattle. The war is waiting on the vote. The chain of command is being pointed at it.

We take the election first. Hegseth's video and his memo sending Cyber Command and NSA after foreign interference. Democrats suing to keep armed federal agents away from the polls. The Supreme Court clearing DHS to run bulk citizenship checks on voter rolls. And the Justice Department losing again on Georgia's voter rolls, 0 for 26 by one count.

Then the cost nobody announced. The Pentagon quietly added 37 wounded to its count, now 861. Eight Marines hit in the Strait of Hormuz, and nobody said so for two weeks. The Senate fell one vote short on war powers. Republicans are balking at the bill. And the last U.S. troops left Iraq while the authorizations for that war stay on the books.

Then the rest of the pit. Floyd Johnson, an Army veteran whose PTSD rating was cut from 80 to 10, goes before the Supreme Court Monday. ICE posted its own reviews of deaths in detention, then pulled them. And the VA's own numbers: 6,488 veteran suicides in 2024, more than the year before.
